CAF Awards 2023: Super Falcons’ Nnadozie wins Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award

Super Falcons shot-stopper Chiamaka Nnadozie has been voted as the best women’s goalkeeper at the 2023 CAF Awards in Marrakech, Morocco.

The 23-year-old edged South Africa’s Andile Dlamini, who won the best goalkeeper award at this year’s CAF Women’s Champions League and the 2022 WAFCON, and Moroccan No. 1 Khadija Er-Rmichi to claim the accolade in front of a packed audience inside the Palais des Congrès.

Nnadozie finished fourth with Nigeria at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) before starring in the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The dazzling shot-stopper kept three clean sheets for the nine-time African champions at the Mundial, including saving a penalty in their group opener against Olympic champions Canada.

Nnadozie also impressed with her club, Paris FC, helping them to a historic first-ever appearance in the group stage of the UEFA Women’s Champions League, where she saved a couple of penalties for her team.
