CAF Awards 2023: Record winner Oshoala leads Women’s Player of the Year list

Women’s World Cup: Super Falcons blessed to have Oshoala – Onome Ebi

Super Falcons star and record winner of African Women’s Footballer of the Year, Asisat Oshoala alongside her international teammates Chiamaka Nnadozie, Christy Ucheibe, Osinachi Ohale, Toni Payne, Uchenna Kanu and Rasheedat Ajibade made the 30-woman list for Women’s Player of the Year in the 2023 CAF Awards.

The Nigerian septet will compete against other top stars from across the continent which include Cameroon’s Ajara Njoya, South Africa duo of Refiloe Jane and Thembi Kgatlana, Zambia’s Barbara Banda and Senegal’s Ndeye Diakhate.

Following her heroics at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Nigeria goalkeeper Nnadozie also leads the shortlist for Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year which has Cameroon’s Ange Bawou, Morocco duo of Khadjiha Er-Rmichi and Imane Abdelahad, South Africa’s Andile Dlamnini and Tanzania’s Najiat Abass Idrissa also in contention.

Three out of the four coaches that featured at the Women’s World Cup made the cut for the women’s Coach of the Year, with Zambia’s Bruce Mwape missing out.
