Brentford manager Thomas Frank is excited by the attacking combination of Bryan Mbeumo, Yoane Wissa and Neal Maupay, describing them as “very promising”.
The Cameroonian, Congolese and Frenchman were instrumental as they had a hand in the goals in the Bees’ 3-0 Premier League over Burnley last week.
It was only Brentford’s second win of the season and at a time when the London outfit have struggled for results partly due to Ivan Toney’s continued absence from an eight-month ban for betting breaches and left-back Rico Henry being ruled out for the rest of the season, the performance of Mbeumo, Wissa and Maupay was a welcome relief for Frank.
“It was very promising. You can see how they link up and connect. I asked Wissa to play a bit closer to Neal and they found each other several times,” Frank said of the trio ahead of Brentford’s league game with Chelsea on Saturday.
“Hopefully, it’s the first time of many they can perform well. They are very dynamic and difficult to close down.”

Speaking on the prospect of causing Chelsea problems at Stamford Bridge, Frank said: “We believe in ourselves and know we are a good team; we know we can create trouble for any team in this division. We need to bring that confidence and belief into the game against Chelsea.”
Brentford are unbeaten in their last three league meetings with Chelsea. Two of those meetings ended in victories at Stamford Bridge, including last season’s encounter which ended in a 2-0 win courtesy of a Cesar Azpilicueta own goal and an Mbeumo strike.
