Boxing: Anthony Joshua targets September return

Wilder in talks for Joshua fight in Saudi Arabia

Anglo-Nigerian heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua is looking forward to a return to the ring and has hinted about a potential fight at Wembley in September 2024.

The two-time world heavyweight champion stopped Francis Ngannou in his last fight in March, knocking him out in the second round.

Boxing promotion company, Matchroom is planning an event at Wembley and Joshua said it would be in September.

The 34-year-old also assured of his readiness to fight when called to action by organisers.

Joshua could fight the winner of Daniel Dubois versus Filip Hrgovic, or Deontay Wilder versus Zhilei Zhang during his September return to the ring.

After a painful second defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021, Joshua has gone on a four-match winning streak.

The 34-year-old defeated Jermaine Franklin in April 2023 by unanimous decision at the O2 Arena before knocking out Robert Helenius in August.

The London 2012 Olympics gold medalist then dominated Otto Wallin in a five-round bout last December before his latest fight with Ngannou.
