Mohamed Amoura scored a goal and provided an assist as Union Saint-Gilloise defeated RWD Molenbeek 3-2 on Wednesday night to extend their lead at the top of the Belgian Pro League.
Amoura was making his second league appearance since returning from international duty with Algeria at the Africa Cup of Nations where the Desert Foxes crashed out from the group stage.
Amoura scored in the 2-2 draw with Anderlecht at the weekend and provided an assist for Gustaf Nilsson’s opening goal against RWDM in the 23rd minute.
Cameron Puertas doubled USG’s lead from the penalty spot before Amoura made it 3-0 also from the spot in the 52nd minute for his 15th goal in 17 league games this season, one shy of Igor Thiago and Togolese forward Ahoueke Denkey.
RWDM tried to force a come back in the second half with Carlos Alberto and Mickael Biron netting in the 64th and 90th minute respectively but that was as far as they could go.
Important derby win and a Champions' Play-offs spot secured! We keep going! ????
