Seventh seed Coco Gauff is through to the third round of the 2023 Australian Open after defeating one-time Grand Slam winner Emma Raducanu 6-3, 7-6.
The 18-year-old defeated 46th seed Katerina Siniakova in straight sets in the first round while Raducanu did likewise against German 76th seed Tamara Korpatsch.
Gauff started the first set of her second round match in dominant fashion, breaking Raducanu in the fourth and sixth game to ensure she saw out the set with ease.
The second set started in similar fashion for Gauff, breaking Raducanu again in the fourth game. The 2021 US Open champion however responded in the eighth game as she raced to 40-0 lead to break Gauff and tie the set 4-4.
77th-ranked Raducanu could have broken Gauff again in the 10th game but she lost two break points. The match went into a tie break with Gauff winning 7-4.

The American teenage sensation becomes the first woman to win 100 WTA level-draw matches before turning 19 since Caroline Wozniacki in Madrid in 2009.
She will face the winner of the clash between her compatriot Bernarda Pera and Chinese Qinwen Zheng in the fourth round.
