Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has called for calm on the praise meted to Amad Diallo after he starred in the comeback 2-1 win over rivals Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday, Afrosport reports.
The Ivorian won the penalty in 87th minute which Bruno Fernandes converted before netting the winner in the 90th minute to seal the three points.
It earned a lot rave reviews for Amad who now has 10 goal contributions (four goals, six assists) in all competitions this season but Amorim prefers to take things cautiously with the former Atalanta winger.
“He is very humble and that is very important. Let’s continue but we have to be careful,” the former Sporting Lisbon boss said per the club website.
“In our club, we put our kids too soon in the special place. Let’s calm Amad down and all the team continue the job.
“I said already, his work with Erik [ten Hag] and Ruud [van Nistelrooy], bring him doing a great job and he continues that job. He can play both positions and, in this kind of game, his ability to run with the ball is really important.
“But all the players fit in my system. If they want, they are very talented players in our squad who can fit in this system.”

Meanwhile, Amad Diallo stated that he is following through with Amorim’s system where he has been largely utilised as a right wing back.
“I am following the manager’s system. He’s demanding a lot of pressing and when I have to press, I go 100 per cent and I don’t care who is there, who is not there,” he said.
“I was happy to win the first penalty. I tried to shoot but I was maybe a little bit smart to say the defender was coming, and he touched my legs, [so it was a] penalty.
“The second one, we know Licha [Lisandro Martinez] is a good player to give you this ball. In the beginning, I didn’t believe in the ball because it was going too quick, but I touched the ball and I score.
“I was so happy to score against City and so happy to win this game. I want to enjoy this moment and then let’s focus for the next game.”
Man United remain 13th on the Premier League standings and will next battle Tottenham Hotspur in the EFL Cup quarter-finals on Thursday.
