Algerian Football Federation President Walid Sadi has affirmed his country’s commitment to hosting both continental and international events after paying FIFA President Gianni Infantino a visit in Zurich on Tuesday
The North African country recently hosted a couple of continental tournaments that included the 2022 African Nations Championship in January and the 2023 Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations in April.
Sadi also extended an invitation to Infantino to visit Algeria in the near future.
“The meeting was very good and interesting,” Walid stated. “Mr Gianni Infantino and I have a very good relationship.
“What I made clear to Mr President is that our country, Algeria, is witnessing a revolution in sporting infrastructure and stadium construction at a global standard.
“Algeria is prepared to host continental and international events. Algeria has always been a pioneer in welcoming all its guests. Speaking of guests, we invite the President to come and visit Algeria as soon as he can. Algeria is also prepared to host all global events.
“Today, the globe is seen as a small village because of modern technology. However, football has become the strongest thing of all. Why? Because football is what unites all nations and brings all of them together.”

The North African region has been the centre of hosting continental football tournaments in the past year such as Morocco hosting the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and 2023 U-23 AFCON whole Egypt hosted the 2023 U-20 AFCON.
Morocco also won the rights to jointly host the 2030 FIFA World Cup along with Spain and Portugal as well Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay, making it the first time six countries jointly hosted the global showpiece. It also marks the second time the Mundial will come to Africa after South Africa hosted it in 2010.
