The Super Eagles head into their second game in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, still basking on the euphoria of thrashing Benin Republic 3-0 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo on Matchday one.
Interim coach Augustine Eguavoen confirmed that everyone who took part in the game against the Cheetahs will be available for Tuesday’s contest with Rwanda at the Amahoro National Stadium, starting from 2 PM West African time.
In football parlance, it is said that you do not change a winning team, to this end, it will be understandable if the coach retains the team that defeated Benin Republic.
With more games to come later in the year, keeping the players together and adopting a winning team and pattern will afford them the opportunity to bond, understand and adopt a certain pattern of play.
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, who came on as a substitute against Benin Republic, will merit a starting role if he gets one, but the Lazio midfielder will also fancy starting from the bench and coming on to make an impact, just as he did in the last game.
Some sources are saying that reigning African Footballer of the year, Victor Osimhen might get the nod ahead of Victor Boniface who was not convincing in the game against the Cheetahs, however, Super Eagles coach Eguavoen will be vindicated still if he retains the team that defeated Benin Republic a few days ago.
