Senegal head coach Aliou Cisse was rushed to an Ivorian hospital after his team’s 3-1 victory against Cameroon in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
After the emphatic result at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium, Cisse complained of discomfort in his stomach and he is still in admission at Saint Joseph Moscati Catholic hospital in Yamoussoukro.
The 47-year-old is reported to be recovering well but he miss the Teranga Lions’ training session on Saturday afternoon.
Meanwhile, his former international teammate El Hadji Diouf eased tension in the Senegalese camp and he confirmed Cisse is recovering well.
Diouf told the media after the Senegal’s training: “He’s doing really well. It could happen. Football is a lot of stress. I remember when I was playing, there were matches that I couldn’t participate in because I had stomach aches.
“I had him (on the phone) earlier. He is doing wonderfully.”
Senegal will hope to have their AFCON-winning coach back in the dug-out when they face Guinea in their final Group C game on Tuesday.
The Teranga Lions are already through to the knock-out stage of the competition after back-to-back wins in their opening two matches.
