AFCON 2023: Lookman strikes again as Super Eagles move into semi-finals

Moses Simon has called on Nigerians to continue praying for the Super Eagles as they aim for glory at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria secured a place in the last-four stage of the tournament after dominating Angola in a 1-0 win at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium on Friday.

Simon provided the assist for Ademola Lookman’s opening goal in the 42nd minute after his dazzling run on the left flank.

The Nantes winger played the entire duration of the game and he was rewarded as the Man of the Match, thanks his contributions in Nigeria’s attack and defence.

The 28-year-old completed the most dribbles (3) and he managed the joint-most key passes (2) against Angola.

“We thank Nigerians especially for the victory,” Simon told Afrosport at the end of the game.

“The motivation for me is the victory, we know where we are going and we also know where we are coming from. The process is step by step.

“I thank Nigerians everywhere for their support, they keep supporting the Super Eagles, they should keep praying for us and we will make them proud.”

Simon has played in every of the Super Eagles’ games in Ivory Coast and he has contributed an assist so far in the tournament.
