Nigeria and Ivory Coast will face each other for the seventh time in the Africa Cup of Nations on Thursday, inside the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpe.

The Super Eagles need to avoid defeat in Abidjan to boost their chances of advancing into the next round while Ivory Coast can guarantee their spot in the knock-out phase of the competition.

The last AFCON meeting between both teams in 2013, ended in favour of the Super Eagles with a 2-1 quarter-final triumph in South Africa.

What do stats say about Ivory Coast vs Nigeria match?

Nigeria have only lost just one of their last 12 games in AFCON group stage and it came in a 2-0 defeat to Madagascar in 2019 and it was the only time they failed to score a goal in their last 12 games in the preliminary round.

The Super Eagles will also aim to be more clinical on Thursday after Victor Osimhen converted just one of his six shots against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday.

Interestingly for Ivory Coast, host countries have lost just one of their last 38 group stage games in the competition. The last host to loss a group stage match was Equatorial Guinea when they suffered a 1-0 loss to Zambia in 2012.

What time is Ivory Coast vs Nigeria

The second Group A match between the Super Eagles and the Elephants will take place by 6 PM (Nigerian time) at the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpe, Abidjan.

Both teams are familiar with the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpe having played their first group matches in the economic capital of Ivory Coast.

Royal Antwerp midfielder Alhassan Yusuf has been ruled out of the crucial match against Ivory Coast due to injury.

Meanwhile, Kelechi Iheanacho and Terem Moffi are in contention to feature in the encounter following their late arrival in Abidjan.

Jose Peseiro also hinted in his presser on Wednesday that he could stick to the tactical plan he deployed against Equatorial Guinea as the Super Eagles only lack finishing.
