Fulham manager Marco Silva has drummed his support for Nigeria ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final on Sunday.
Two Cottagers, Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey, have been ever-present in the Ivory Coast, playing every game, and will be gearing up once again as they prepare to face the tournament hosts whom they defeated in the group stage.
Silva revealed he has monitoring the duo since they last played for the club in a 2-1 home win against Arsenal on December 31.
“Of course, we have been watching. It’s mixed feelings for us. It’s been a long time without two key players for us. Right now, we are supporting them in the final,” the Portuguese said in a press conference ahead of Saturday’s home tie with Bournemouth.

Fulham are the latest club outside of Nigeria to support the Super Eagles after South African side Chippa United declared their support ahead of the semi-final with Bafana Bafana because of Stanley Nwabali.
It was a move that was met with surprise in South Africa with the social media post ultimately deleted.
