Ivory Coast coach Emerse Fae has reiterated their mission to add a third star to the country’s national team jersey when they face Nigeria in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final.
The Elephants have won the AFCON trophy on two occasions, in 1992 and 2015, and they have their sights set on a third title on home soil on Sunday.
Fae admitted the second game between Nigeria and Ivory Coast at the tournament would be a tough clash but his players will give their all to lift and keep the coveted in Abidjan.
He said: “Tomorrow, we have a great opportunity to keep the trophy at home. We know that when you organize a tournament, it is difficult to go on and win it.
“We have made the final and tomorrow, we have the opportunity to achieve this feat and at the same time, add a third star to the orange jersey of Côte d’Ivoire.”
Ivory Coast will be playing in their fifth AFCON final on Sunday and they will be looking to match Nigeria’s success of three titles in the competition.
