Cameroon have set up a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16 tie with the Super Eagles of Nigeria after their 3-2 win over the Gambia in Group C on Tuesday which saw them finish in second place.
The Indomitable Lions were with just one point heading into their final group game and knew they had to win if they stood any chance of progressing.
After a goalless first half at Stade de la Paix in Bouake, former Olympique Lyon forward Karl Toko Ekambi opened the scoring in 56th minute with a powerful header.
Things turned sour for Cameroon when Ablie Jallow and Ebrima Colley put Gambia 2-1 up with just five minutes of regular time left. Cameroon however clawed their way back thanks to James Gomez’s own goal and Christopher Wooh’s winner via a header in added time.
The resilience of The Indomitable Lions paid off in Christopher Wooh's match wining goal!????
