Hapoel Jerusalem goalkeeper Adebayo Adeleye has taken to social media to rave about his dream Super Eagles debut appearance in their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone.
Jose Peseiro selected Adeleye ahead of Enyimba’s Ojo Olorunleke and Rivers United’s Victor Sochima, and he delivered a good performance in the 3-2 win in Monrovia on Sunday.
Although he conceded two goals, Adeleye made some fine saves in the closing minutes of the game when the score was tied at 2-2 before Kelechi Iheanacho’s winning goal in stoppage time.
After Sunday’s win, the 23-year-old: “Dream debut done and dusted. Thank you to everyone for believing in me and for the support.”
Adeleye has spent the majority of his professional career in Israel with stints at Hapoel Katamon and Hapoel Jerusalem.
He would be hoping for his second invite when the Super Eagles host Sao Tome and Principe for their final fixture in the AFCON 2023 qualifiers.
