Achraf Hakimi: Why PSG & Morocco star is trending amid divorce battle

Two-time CAF Youth Player of the Year, Achraf Hakimi is at the centre of a broken relationship with his spouse and Spanish actress, Hiba Abouk.

Abouk and Hakimi got married in 2020 but the 36-year-old movie star filed for a divorce after the football star was accused of rape by a woman on January 16, with French prosecutors still investigating the case.

What is trending?

Reports claim that Abouk has filed for divorce and she is demanding half of Hakimi’s property, but the court ruled that the football star owns nothing as all his property is registered in his mother’s name.

The report further revealed that 80 per cent of the Morocco star’s earnings in the French capital city goes to his mother’s account.

Who is Hakimi’s mother?

24-year-old Hakimi revealed his mother, Saeeda Moh, to the world at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar when he approached the stands after scoring the winning penalty that helped Morocco beat Spain and qualify for the qaurter-final.

The right-back hugged his mother in a moment of joy and also kissed her.

Meanwhile, the mother insists his son is clean from the rape allegations.

“My heart tells me that my son is innocent and has a good education. He doesn’t deserve what happened to him. I asked him about the case, and he swore to me that he was innocent,” Seeda Moh told an Arabic outlet in March.

When did Hakimi wed Abouk and how children do they have?

They got married in 2020 and they turned up for several fashion shows together across the world.

In October 2022, the embattled couple  featured on the cover of Vogue Arabia.

They welcomed their first son in 2020 and two years later, they had their second son.

Is the situation affecting Hakimi’s career?

The ongoing legal tussle has not affected Hakimi’s form at Paris Saint-Germain.

The 24-year-old played the entire duration of PSG’s last Ligue 1 game that ended in a 2-0 win against OGC Nice and he is in contention for their home fixture against second-placed Lens on Saturday.

In March, the former Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund defender was part of the Moroccan squad that defeated Brazil in an international friendly in Tangiers.
