Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry was named the Most Valuable Player at the 2025 NBA All-Star Game in San Francisco on Sunday as Shaq’s OGs took home the grand prize.
The NBA, in an attempt to reinstate the competitiveness of the All-Star Game, introduced a new format with a mini-four-team tournament, which included two semi-finals and a championship game.
Shaq’s OGs, however, emerged victorious, beating Chuck’s Global Stars 41-25 in the final after both teams navigated Candace’s Rising Stars and Kenny’s Young Stars in their respective semi-finals.
Curry finished with 20 points in total but scored 12 points in the final at Chase Centre, along with recording 10 rebounds, three steals, and two assists to win the Kobe Bryant trophy for the second time in his career.

The 36-year-old, who became the 15th player in NBA history to win the All-Star Game MVP on multiple occasions, said he was pleased with the new direction of the event.
“I think it was a good step in the right direction to reinvigorate the game in some way,” Curry said. “And then you tinker with it again next year and see what changes you can make.
“I don’t want to compare it to any other era because the world has changed, life is different, the way people consume basketball is different. So, it’s not going to look like it used to. But it still can be fun for everybody.”
Golden State hosted the All-Star Game for the fourth time and the first time since 2000, and Curry, who was at the centre of the event, added that he was honoured to be tasked with showcasing the Bay Area community to the outside populace.
“The hosting experience was unbelievable. I’m not going to complain about being tired or exhausted,” the 11-time All-Star stated. “This is an honour and a blessing to be able to celebrate and share this beautiful Bay Area that’s been a part of my life for the last 16 years and the basketball history and culture that’s here and the amazing fans that are here and the impact that the game being here has had on both cities.
“So it was awesome from start to finish. And I mean, the highlight is obviously the game [as it] is what everybody’s looking forward to. But I brought a lot of… of my people together that have helped me along the way or been a part of the journey, and I got to kind of reflect a little bit, and I’m excited to get back to work next week.”
