UCL: Alexander-Arnold unfazed by potential hostile reception ahead of Liverpool return

Real Madrid full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold says he will not be shaken by whatever reception he gets from Liverpool fans ahead of Tuesday’s crunch UEFA Champions League game at Anfield on Tuesday, Afrosport reports.

The 27-year-old Englishman ended his 20-year association with the Reds to join Los Blancos on a free transfer in the summer after failing to renew his contract.

Alexander-Arnold’s departure was seen as a betrayal by Liverpool fans who could potential throw jeers at him if he plays. Regardless, such action will not diminish his love for the club he won eight titles, including the Champions League.

“I think whichever way I am received is the decision of the fans,” he told Amazon Prim Video. “I will always love the club. I will always be a fan of the club.

“No matter what, my feelings won’t change towards Liverpool. I have got memories there that will last me a lifetime and no matter how I am received, that won’t change.”

Looking ahead to the game, Alexander-Arnold added: “It will be a very difficult game, the reception and atmosphere will contribute to that, but more so the football for me.

“Although they haven’t had the results of late, they’re still a top footballing team, and nobody here thinks it’s going to be an easy game.”

Alexander-Arnold was back among the substitutes in back-to-back La Liga wins over rivals Barcelona and Valencia after missing the last seven competitive games due to a hamstring injury.
