Wolves reportedly reject second bid for Strand Larsen from Newcastle

Wolverhampton Wanderers have rejected a second bid worth £55 million from Newcastle United for Swedish striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, Afrosport reports.

According to BBC Sport, the Magpies had first tabled a £50 million offer earlier this week but had it turned down by Wolves, who have insisted the 25-year-old is not for sale.

The Midlands outfit signed Jorgen Strand Larsen permanently from Celta Vigo this summer for £23 million after his successful loan spell last season, when he scored 14 goals in 35 Premier League appearances.

He was on target twice in Tuesday’s 3-2 win over West Ham United in the EFL Cup second round.

Newcastle are desperately in need of a striker, with Alexander Isak’s future unknown as he tries to engineer a move away from St. James’ Park.

The Tyneside outfit have also been dealt a blow after Anthony Gordon, who has been operating as a false nine in Isak’s absence, received a straight red for a harsh challenge on Virgil van Dijk in Monday’s 3-2 home loss to Liverpool, and will miss the next three league games.
