Bayelsa United kicked off their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign with a stunning 1-0 away victory over Shooting Stars at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, on Sunday, Afrosport reports.
Kehinde Lawal netted the decisive goal for the Prosperity Boys on the hour mark, securing all three points in a tightly contested match.
Meanwhile, Warri Wolves picked up the second away win of the day, edging Katsina United 1-0 at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium. Igbunnu Evwierhurhoma struck the decisive goal in the 76th minute.
In Maiduguri, El-Kanemi Warriors started their campaign in dominant fashion with a 2-0 win over Bendel Insurance. The Warriors got off to a blistering thanks to goals from Al’amin Umar and Daddy Abdulrahman.
Abia Warriors had a Paul Samson goal to thank for their 1-0 win over Kano Pillars, while Wikki Tourists pipped Plateau United 1-0

Elsewhere, newly promoted Kun Khalifat FC earned a commendable point after holding eight-time champions Enugu Rangers to a goalless draw at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
Enyimba also played out a goalless stalemate against newcomers Barau FC in Kano. Same result played out in Ilorin where Kwara United were held scoreless by Ikorodu City.
