Arsenal kicked off their 2025-26 Premier League campaign with a 1-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, Afrosport reports.
The game was a highly anticipated one, which saw some new signings from both sides make their debuts. Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha started for the Red Devils, with Benjamin Sesko on the bench, while for the Gunners, there were starts for Viktor Gyokeres and Martin Zubimendi.
United were quick off the blocks, with Mbeumo and Cunha making some quick breaks on the counter. They, however, failed to threaten, and it was Arsenal that went ahead after 13 minutes when goalkeeper Altay Bayindir failed to claim the ball from a Declan Rice corner kick, which allowed Riccardo Calafiori to head in.
Ruben Amorim’s side continued to create chances mainly through Mbeumo and Cunha, but none of them found their way into the back of the net, with Mikel Arteta’s men holding firm for all three points.

In the early Sunday games, Chelsea were held to a goalless draw with Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge. Eberechi Eze had the best opportunity of the game when he scored in the 13th minute, but it was ruled out for offside by VAR.
At the City Ground, Nottingham Forest recorded a 3-1 win over Brentford, Chris Wood netting a brace and new signing Dan Ndoye with the other, while another new recruit, Igor Thiago, scored the consolation goal for the Bees.
