Salah, Isak nominated for PFA Player of the Year award

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah and Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak are among six nominees for the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Men’s Player of the Year award announced on Friday, Afrosport reports.

Salah was in scintillating form last season as he scored 29 goals and provided 18 assists which helped Liverpool win their second-ever Premier League title.

The 33-year-old Egyptian was earlier voted by the Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Footballer of the Year, securing almost 90% of the votes which is the biggest winning margin in the 21st century.

Meanwhile, Swedish striker Isak, of Eritrean heritage, was also nominated after scoring 27 competitive goals as Newcastle ended a 56-year trophy drought by winning the EFL Cup and also qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.

Other players nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award include Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, Arsenal midfieder Declan Rice, Chelsea forward Cole Palmer and Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes.


The winner will be revealed at the award ceremony in Manchester on August 19.
