MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi is excited about the move of Formula 1 icon Lewis Hamilton to Ferarri for the upcoming season, Afrosport reports.
The seven-time F1 world champion’s move sent shockwaves across the F1 paddock when it was announced a year ago before officially moving last month after ending his 12-year stint with Mercedes.
Hamilton has already had valuable testing time with Ferrari in a bid to familiarise himself with his new environment and has exhausted the allowed mileage under Testing Previous Cars (TPC) guidelines.
Rossi, who is a nine-time MotoGP champion and has tested Ferrari and Mercedes F1 cars in the past, weighed in on Hamilton’s Ferrari move, which has created a lot of buzz in Italy. He told Corriere della Sera: “Of course, it’s a beautiful thing. Seeing him there, in the red suit, excites me too.
“I really want to understand how he manages. And how Leclerc manages.”
Hamilton will continue his preparations for the 2025 F1 season this week with a Pirelli tyre test where he will be driving a modified version of Ferrari’s 2024 car – SF-24 that will produce downforce levels in line with the new regulations from 2026 upwards.
