Former Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye was on target as Enyimba defeated Nasarawa United 2-1 in a rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) encounter in Aba on Wednesday, Afrosport reports.
The People’s Elephants went into the game without a win in their last seven games, but Joseph Atule’s opener just before half-time put them in control.
Nasarawa United responded in the 58th minute through Anas Yusuf who guided in his 11th goal of the season from a goal-mouth scramble.
Ideye, who came on as a substitute, then positioned himself well, and tapped in, to restore Enyimba’s lead three minutes past the hour mark.
It was his second goal in two games, the former Olympiakos and Tianjin TEDA striker also scored in the team’s 4-1 demolition of Black Bulls of Mozambique in the CAF Confederation Cup.
His goal proved to be the winner and took the nine-time Nigerian champions to seventh on the log on 27 points, while Nasarawa United stay bottom with 19 points.
