Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero wants the club’s board to do more in the transfer market following the disappointing 4-3 Premier League loss to Chelsea on Sunday, Afrosport reports.
The North London club have been very inconsistent this season after embarking on a five match winning streak including the 3-0 trashing of Manchester United away from home back in September.
Their season was on display on Sunday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as they blew a 2-0 lead against Chelsea and have now recorded one win in their last seven competitive games.
Romero speaking to Telemundo Deportes per BBC Sport stated that inorder for them to compete the board has to develop a spending culture.
“Manchester City competes every year, you see how Liverpool strengthens its squad, Chelsea strengthens their squad, doesn’t do well, strengthens again, and now they’re seeing results. Those are the things to imitate,” the Argentine centre-back said.
“You have to realise that something is going wrong, hopefully, they [the board] realise it.”
Sunday’s defeat has demoted Spurs to 11th on the log having accumulated 20 points in 15 games already.
Ange Postecoglou’s side will be shifting their attention to the Europa League next as they will be traveling to the Ibrox Stadium to take on Scottish side Rangers.
