Liverpool manager Arne Slot is delighted to have goalkeeper Alisson back in the squad ahead of their UEFA Champions League game away at Girona on Tuesday, Afrosport reports.
The Brazilian shot stopper has been out of action since the end of September with a hamstring inquiry and has missed 12 competitive games.
Caoimhin Kelleher has stood between the sticks in Aliason’s absence but the former AS Roma player has travelled with the team for the trip to Catalonia and could be in line to start.
“Alisson has been so outstanding for this club for so many years and for the Brazil national team that it’s definitely, nice to have him back and to have him available,” Slot said.
“But if you then look at how his replacement [Caoimhn Kelleher], it’s not going to be easy to do it even better. So we expect definitely the same. Maybe on margins a bit better, but Caiomhn did so well that we can say that we have two very good goalkeepers – that can do the job for us.
“But, for so many years Alisson has been so outstanding for this club that we are expecting and hoping [for] him to do the same in the upcoming weeks and months.”
