Nigeria’s under-17 women’s national team head coach Bankole Olowookere has invited 25 players to camp as the Flamingos gear up for WAFU B U17 Girls’ Cup competition billed to be held in Ghana from 12-26 December 2024.
Olowookere led the Flamingos to the quarterfinals of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Dominican Republic in October, where the team lost 2-0 to eventual bronze medallists, the United States, and won the FIFA Fair Play award.
He has called upon the likes of midfielder Shakirat Moshood, who scored four goals at the World Cup, first-choice goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma, defenders Taiwo Adegoke, Jumai Adebayo and Prisca Nwachukwu, Farida Abdulwahab, and forwards Harmony Chidi, Peace Effiong and Janet Akekoromowei.
All invited players are expected to report at the Remo Stars Sports Institute, Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State on Tuesday, 3 December 2024.
The Flamingos have been drawn in group B of the WAFU B U17 Girls’ Cup competition, which has six participating teams and is expected to last for two weeks.
Nigeria will tackle Ivory Coast and Niger Republic, while hosts Ghana are in group A alongside Burkina Faso and Benin Republic.
