Organisers of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has charged Enyimba for breaching its framework and rules during their match against Ikorodu City in matchday nine on Sunday.
The nine-time Nigerian champions defeated the newcomers 2-1 at the Enyimba Stadium as a late goal from Moses Adikwu sent them into third in the league standings.
The Aba-based club have been charged for making damaging posts on their X platform (formerly Twitter), questioning the officiating during the course of their match against the Oga Boys.
The NPFL organisers have fined Enyimba ₦1 million, stating that the “published comments are capable of bringing the game to disrepute”.
The two-time CAF Champions League winners have been informed to ensure such occurrence does not happen in the future, and advised to make use of the right platforms to register their complaints as more severe sanctions will be melted out in case of a recurrence.
Enyimba’s sanction comes almost 24 hours after the NPFL sanctioned Kano Pillars and fined the club ₦2 million for also breaching league rules.
The People’s Elephant have the rights to contest the sanctions within 48 hours of the date of notice.
