The Nigeria women’s senior team, the Super Falcons, cruised to a 4-1 win in the second match of their international friendly double-header against Algeria, Afrosport reports.
The nine-time African champions secured a 2-0 win over the Green Ladies in Ikenne on Saturday courtesy of a brace from captain Rasheedat Ajibade.
The Super Falcons got off to a great start inside the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos, with two goals inside the first 20 minutes as Folashade Ijamilusi bagged a brace to hand Justin Madugu’s side a comfortable lead.
Algeria settled into the game and the North Africans were provided with a chance to draw one back but Lina Boussaha failed to find the back of the net from the spot, keeping things as they were.
The visitors were not to be denied the second time of asking as defender Alouache Ouassila halved the deficit for Algeria in the 42nd minute.
Nigeria responded four minutes later through Spain-based Gift Monday. The UD Tenerife forward restored the Super Falcons’ two-goal lead in the first minute of stoppage time.
The second half did not provide as much excitement as the first, with the only goal coming from Ijamilusi as the forward completed her hat-trick in the 86th minute to wrap off the contest.
