Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum and Los Angeles Lakers forward-center Anthony Davis have been named the NBA Players of the Week for the opening week of the 2024-25 season, Afrosport reports.

Tatum led Boston to a 3-0 record in Week 1 to win the Eastern Conference Player of the Week award for the 11th time in his eight-year career.
The 26-year-old averaged 33.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 6.0 assists across three games as the Celtics recorded wins over the New York Knicks, Washington Wizards, and Detroit Pistons.

Meanwhile, Davis wins the award in the West, his sixth with the Lakers and the 11th of his career.
The nine-time All-Star averaged 34.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game, while shooting 50% from the field and 40% on 3s, to help the Lakers beat the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Phoenix Suns, and the Sacramento Kings.
