Zambia finished the 2024 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic winless after losing 4-1 to Japan on Wednesday, Afrosport reports.

The Copper Princesses were no match for the Japanese in Santo Domingo as a Miharu Sinjo brace and solo efforts from Momo Sato and Mitsuki Ota got the job done for the Asian giants while Zambia’s consolation goal came from Haruko Suzuki’s 87th minute own goal.

Meanwhile, debutants Kenya recorded their first-ever World Cup win with a 2-1 victory over Mexico.

First half goals from Valerie Neseka and Lorna Faith was all the East Africans needed while Akexa Siro scored the consolation for the Mexicans.

The result was however not enough to see the Kenyans qualify from the group stage as they finished third in Group C behind North Korea and England and ahead of the Mexicans.
