F1: Sergio Perez affirms Red Bull stay amid retirement rumours

F1: Ex-Red Bull driver Coulthard warns Sergio Perez can suffer same fate as Riccardo

Sergio Perez has announced that he will 100% be at Red Bull Racing next year amid rumours that he will retire from Formula 1 after his home race in the Mexico City Grand Prix, Afrosport reports.

According to some earlier reports, Perez was going to announce his departure from the sport in front of his home fans next week after coming under increasing pressure for underperforming in the RB20 this year.

The Mexican has a contract for next year and ahead of this weekend’s United States Grand Prix in Austin, reiterated that he will not be going anywhere.

“Just that sometimes people link these rumours and a lot of people pick it up, especially back in Mexico with the Mexican Grand Prix coming up,” Sergio Perez said per Crash.net.

“I didn’t want my fans to be mislead into false information. I just wanted to make it clear that I will 100% be here next year. I have a contract and I will fulfil it.

“That’s not in mind. My mind is to sort out the issues we have at the moment with the car.”

Perez will be hoping to have a more eventful outing in Austin having last finished on podium at the Chinese Grand Prix back in April.
