Super Eagles interim manager, Augustine Eguavoen says his team will be out to secure maximum points in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Libya, Afrosport reports.

The Super Eagles currently occupy top spot in Group D with four points from two games and victory in both games against the Mediterranean Knights will see them book their spot in next year’s finals in Morocco with two qualifiers left.

Eguavoen wants the team to wrap up qualification now in order to avoid being anxious in the run-in.

The ex-international also reiterated that the other attackers in the team can step up to deliver the goals in Victor Osimhen’s absence.

“We have to be practical about it: our best and surest route to the finals will be to pick up the six points in the matches with Libya, and be somewhat guaranteed of a place in Morocco even before Matchday five,” he told the NFF website.

“We don’t want to be in any anxiety in the run-in in this qualifying campaign.

“I admit we will miss Victor (Osimhen), but I believe in the other strikers available to get us the goals that will give us the three points in Uyo, and the three points in Libya.”

The Super Eagles will face Libya in Uyo and Friday before meeting them in Benina next Tuesday.
