Nigerian forward Josh Maja scored his sixth league goal of the season as West Bromwich Albion defeated Plymouth Argyle 1-0 in their Championship clash at The Hawthorns on Saturday.
The 25-year-old scored the decisive goal in the 62nd minute after his earlier effort was chalked off for offside seconds before half-time.

The Nigeria international received a standing ovation from the home crowd as he was replaced by Lewis Dobbin in the 78th minute having helped the Baggies win their fifth match in the 2024-25 campaign.
Meanwhile, Maja’s compatriot and Super Eagles defender, Semi Ajayi, played the whole 90 minutes, helping the hosts keep a clean sheet, their fourth of the season.
The win ensured West Brom maintained their unbeaten record in the Championship this season with five wins and a draw as they improved to 16 points and remain at the summit of the league standings.

Carlos Corberan’s men will be hoping to continue their great start to the season when they head to the Hillsborough Stadium to take on Sheffield Wednesday in their next league match on Saturday, September 28.
Meanwhile, for Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth, they were handed a reality check after last week’s home victory against Sunderland as they remain with just five points after six games and sit 20th in the league.
