Anthony Joshua v Daniel Dubois: All you need to know about the IBF heavyweight title bout

British-Nigerian boxer Anthony Joshua and reigning IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois will face off in an all-British world title fight scheduled to take place inside Wembley Stadium on Saturday, September 21.

Joshua, who is making his return to title contention, returns to Wembley for the first time since his knockout win over Alexander Povetkin in 2018, while this will be Dubois’ first appearance as the iconic home of English football.

Fighting in his 13th world title bout, Joshua, who boasts 28 wins and three losses, will be aiming to put behind him the ghost of his recent defeats to undisputed world champion Oleksandr Usyk, who he lost to in a pair of fights in 2021 and 2022, and therefore become a three-time heavyweight champion.

Meanwhile, Dubois, who has 21 wins and two losses and is the holder of the IBF world title recently vacated by Usyk, will be fighting in his first defence of the belt. He beat Croatian boxer Filip Hrgovic in June to claim the title.

What does the head-to-head stats say?

The title holder, Daniel Dubois, maintains an impeccable record in his fighting career, which has seen him win 21 bouts and loss just two in his 23-fight career. The 27-year-old recorded 20 of his victories by knockout and one via split decision. His only losses are against Usyk and fellow Brit Joe Joyce.

Anthony Joshua also isn’t a meager when it comes to throwing hands as the 34-year-old holds a professional boxing record of 28 wins and 3 losses in 31 fights.

Joshua has knocked out his opponent 25 times and has won via decision on three occasions. His three defeats were against Usyk (twice) and Andy Ruiz Jr.

Where will the Joshua and Dubois fight take place?

Joshua and Dubois will battle it out for the IBF world heavyweight title at the over 90,000-capacity Wembley Stadium, the grand home of English football located in the northwest of London, England.

This means there will be no home-crowd advantage as the two men, who were born few miles away from the venue, will both have home support.

It’s the first time Dubois will be fighting at Wembley, and the fifth time Joshua is in the ring under the iconic stadium’s light, and this first since 2018.

When is the Joshua v Dubois world title fight?

The heavyweight bout at Wembley is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 21, 2024. The event is slated to begin at 19:00 British Summer Time (BST), which is the same time in Nigeria, and 20:00 CEST in much of Europe, and 14:00 ET on the east of the Americas.

The title fight is the main event and the two fighters’ ring walks will begin after 21:45 BST. However, timings are subject to change, depending on the duration of the earlier fights.
