Former Stuttgart forward Cacau is unsure of if Sehrou Guirassy will succeed at Borussia Dortmund after he opened his account in the 3-0 UEFA Champions League victory at Club Brugge on Wednesday night, Afrosport reports.
The Guinea forward scored the third and final goal from the penalty spot in what was his second appearance after missing Dortmund’s first three competitive games due to a knee injury.
Cacau, who scored 109 competitive goals and provided 44 assists in 346 outings in an 11-year spell with Stuttgart, thinks Guirassy might struggle at Dortmund due to the higher expectations at the club compared to Stuttgart.
“We will see at Dortmund. I do not know if he will be so successful like at Stuttgart because at Stuttgart the expectation was not so high. Now, at Dortmund, everyone expects for him to make the same level as at Stuttgart. I am not sure,” Cacau told Sky Sports.

Cacau went on to explain what made Guirassy exceptional at Stuttgart where he scored a total of 44 goals in 58 appearances in two seasons, including 28 goals in the 2023-24 season which saw them finish second in the Bundesliga and qualify for the Champions League for the first time in 14 years.
He also finished second in the race for the Bundesliga Golden Boot, eight goals shy of Harry Kane’s tally (36)
“At Stuttgart, for me, he was the complete striker. He scored headers, he scored in the box, he scored outside the box, he scored through dribbling and he also gave some assists,” the retired German forward continued.
“It is not normal for a striker like him to make assists because everyone wants you to score goals. If he was in a good position, he tried to score. If not, he gave the pass. That impressed me. At Stuttgart, he was complete.
“Guirassy was technically amazing, he scored the goals but he also gave the team calmness on the pitch. As a player and a person, he is amazing. He was also very important for the team in the locker room because he had this mentality.”
Guirassy joined Dortmund in the summer for a reported fee of €18 million from Stuttgart. It is the eighth club of his professional career after playing for Laval, Lille, Auxerre, FC Cologne, Amiens and Rennes.
