NFF to appoint foreign technical adviser for Super Eagles

The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has announced plans to appoint a foreign technical adviser for the Super Eagles as a result of their abysmal results in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

Nigeria are without a win the qualifying round and they are fifth in Group C with just three points from four games. Finidi who was appointed head coach in May failed to win his first competitive games at thelm of the Super Eagles which has prompted the NFF to seek additional support.

NFF Executive Committee, in a hybrid meeting, agreed on the appointment of an expatriate technical adviser and restructuring of the technical team. games, prompting the NFF to seek additional support.

The committee apologised to Nigerians for the disappointing results and promised improvements in the upcoming African Cup of Nations and World Cup Qualifying games.

The Super Eagles will return to competitive action in September when the 2025 AFCON qualifiers kicks off while the 2026 World Cup qualifiers continues in March 2025.

In addition to its resolve, the NFF confirmed robust plans to get the Super Falcons in good shape for the women’s football event at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Meanwhile, the Falconets, U-20 women’s national team, will have a two-phase camping in Colombia ahead of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in the South American country in August.
