Victor Boniface found the back of the net as Bayer Leverkusen recorded a 2-1 win over Augsburg at the BayArena to end the 2023-24 Bundesliga season unbeaten.
The Pharmaceutical-backed outfit sealed their first-ever league title when they defeated Werder Bremen 5-0 on matchday 29 and have not lost their guard since then.
Boniface put his team in front in the 12th minute after profiting off an error by Augsburg goalkeeper Tomas Koubek.
The goal was the 14th in the Bundesliga for Boniface this season which means the Nigerian finished as top scorer for Leverkusen in the German top flight.

Robert Andrich made it 2-0 for Leverkusen in the 27th minute after profiting from a rebound that fell to his path before Mert Komur scored the consolation goal for Augsburg in the 62nd minute.
The result means that Leverkusen are the first team in Bundesliga history to go the entire season unbeaten and only the third team in Europe’s top five leagues to do so after Arsenal (during the 2003-04 Premier League season) and Juventus (during the 2011-12 Serie A season).
0 – Bayer 04 Leverkusen are the first team in Bundesliga history to go unbeaten across a full season – in the big five European leagues, only Arsenal in 2003-04 and Juventus in 2011-12 had achieved this since the millennium. Invincibles. pic.twitter.com/tjYyqFdglQ

Xabi Alonso’s men still have the chance to go unbeaten in all competitions as they have stretched the record to 51 games and only have two more teams against Atalanta (Europa League final) and Kaiserslautern (German Cup final) to set an unprecedented competitive European record.
