Nigerian striker Sadiq ‘feels good’ about recent Real Sociedad form

Umar Sadiq says he feels good about his progress on the pitch after scoring in Real Sociedad’s 1-1 La Liga draw with Basque rivals Osasuna on Saturday.

Sociedad had gone behind through Moi Gomez’s strike in the second minute. Sadiq was however able to salvage a point for his team with his powerful shot from outside the box in the 41st minute.

It was the second consecutive La Liga game the Nigerian forward had scored having netted in the Sociedad’s 2-1 win over Sevilla last weekend. Sadiq believes he will get better with more game time having slowly made his way back to the team from a cruciate ligament injury that ruled him out for most of the previous season.

“I feel good, I think I’m getting better step by step because last season I was out. The more I play, the more I get much better,” Sadiq said on Sociedad’s YouTube channel.

He also added about the Osasuna game: “It was not an easy game. We created a lot of opportunities, unfortunately. But we all know we deserved the three points

“To play in this kind of stadium, against this kind of team is very hard. But I’m proud of the team because we fought back and created a lot of chances, but it was not our day so we keep going.”

Sociedad sit in sixth place on the table two points behind Basque rivals Athletic Bilbao in fifth and five points Barcelona who occupy fourth spot.
