Brazil have announced plans to play Guinea in an international friendly match on June 17 in the Spanish city of Barcelona.
Guinea will be expected to make the trip to Spain after facing Egypt in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in the Moroccan city of Marrakech on June 14.
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) is set to use the match to combat racism, with Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr. expected to play a part in the game.
Vinicius Jr. has been the subject of racist remarks in Spain this season and he recently fell victim again at the Mestalla Stadium in Valencia which forced him to voice out and call ‘La Liga home of racists’.
To add more relevance to the international fixture, the CBF has invited Presidents of FIFA, Gianni Infantino and UEFA, Aleksander Ceferin alongside Spanish football authorities as guests for the game against the African countries.
Brazil are still without a head coach following the departure of Tite after the 2022 FIFA World Cup, but the country’s U20 head coach Ramon Menezes who is currently in Argentina for the U20 World Cup will continue to act in an interim capacity and name the squad for the June games.
After the game against Guinea in Barcelona, Brazil will also face African champions Senegal in the Portuguese city of Lisbon a few days later.
