Rivers United responded to their earlier upset in CAF Confederation Cup by beating ASEC Mimosas 3-0 in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
The reigning Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) suffered defeat by the same scoreline in their Group B opener against Diables Noirs but got the job done this time thanks to goals from Malachi Ohamuwa, Ukeme Williams, Ngaweni Denis Ndasi.
In the other Group B game, Motema Pembe of DR Congo played out a goalless draw with Congolese neighbours Diables Noirs.
Three other games on Sunday ended in 1-1 draws. These occurred in games involving Al Akhdar and USM Alger, Real Bamako and Monastir of Tunisia as well as the all-Egyptian clash between Future FC and Pyramids.
Debutants Marumo Gallants continued their excellent start by claiming a 2-1 win over St. Eloi Lupopo in Group A while the biggest win of the day came in the Moroccan capital city of Rabat where FAR Rabat were 5-1 victors over ASKO Kara in Group C.

In round three of the group phase fixtures, Rivers United will travel to DR Congo to face Motema Pembe, Marumo Gallants will hope to continue their exploits when they travel to USM Alger while it will be a North African affair between FAR Rabat and Future FC.
All fixtures will hold on February 26.
