Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti has played down concerns about Victor Osimhen being injured following the Partenopei’s 2-0 win at Sassuolo on Friday.
The Nigeria international was on target in the game alongside Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to maintain Napoli’s healthy lead at the top of the table.
There were concerns, however, when the 24-year-old pointed to his thigh in discomfort, while receiving assistance from medical personnel before being taken off and replaced by Giovanni Simeone in the 85th minute.
Napoli prepare to take on Eintracht Frankfurt next in the UEFA Champions League and Spalletti explained Osimhen was just suffering from fatigue.
“For what was assessed there straight away, it doesn’t look like anything special, just a bit of tiredness because he can’t spare himself,” Spalletti told DAZN.
“When he has this urge to push, he stretches and does these runs where you don’t know where hell end up.
“He says he can hardly do it anymore and will go two metres, then those two metres become two hundred because he goes after everyone.”
Osimhen also responded to a fan’s concern on social media, stressing he was in perfect condition.
