2026WCQ: Rashford returns to England squad after one-year absence

Marcus Rashford has returned to the England squad after a one-year absence for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia, Afrosport reports.

Rashford last played for the Three Lions in a friendly against Brazil in March 2024 and had struggled for form and consistency at Manchester United.

The 27-year-old has however rediscovered his best form since joining Aston Villa on loan in January and has four competitive assists in nine games, his most recent for Marco Asension in the 3-0 win over Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League in midweek.

Meanwhile, new England boss Thomas Tuchel has handed Arsenal left-back Myles Lewis-Skelly his first call-up along with Newcastle United defender Dan Burn.

There is a return for Ajax midfielder Jordan Henderson who last played in November 2023 while Dominic Solanke is included after returning to action after two months out with a knee injury.

Tuchel will begin his quest to take England to the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico with a doubleheader at Wembley against Albania and Latvia on March 21 and 24 respectively.
