2026WCQ: Ghana fail to claim maximum points against Chad in Group I

Ghana failed to extend their lead atop the Group I standings of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers as they could only manage a 1-1 draw away at Chad on Thursday, Afrosport reports.

The Black Stars were two points clear of Comoros going into this game in N’Djamena, and were head after 17 minutes when West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus found Leicester City’s Jordan Ayew.

Otto Addo’s men were close to snatching all three points but were denied as Celestine Ecua levelled for the Chadians in the 89th minute.

Ghana are now three points clear of Madagascar who moved into second place following their 2-0 win over Central African Republic while Comoros could be one point behind if they beat Mali in Bamako later on Thursday evening.

In other results, Libya defeated Angola 1-0 in Luanda to move within a point of second-placed Cameroon in Group D, while leaders Cape Verde eased past Mauritius 2-0.

In Group A, Guinea-Bissau and Sierra Leone played out a 1-1 draw while in Group H, Equatorial Guinea came from two goals to defeat Sao Time and Principe 3-2 in Oudja.
