Team Lagos maintains the top position on the medal standings at the ongoing National Youth Games in Asaba, Afrosport reports.
As of Thursday evening, Lagos leads the pack with an impressive haul of 61 medals – comprising 33 gold, 15 silver, and 23 bronze. Their dominant performance has positioned them as strong contenders for the overall title as the Games approach the final stretch.
Behind them is Team Edo, who sits in second place with a total of 41 medals, having amassed 25 gold, nine silver, and seven bronze.
Defending champions and host state, Delta, currently occupy third place with 59 medals: 17 gold, 20 silver, and 22 bronze. Despite their strong start and passionate home support, Delta will need a big push in the final days to reclaim their title.
Abia State has also impressed with a solid performance, sitting in fourth place with 9 gold, 8 silver, and 7 bronze medals.
With the closing ceremony set for Saturday, the stage is set for a dramatic finish, as the leading states battle it out for national glory and the honour of being crowned champions of the 2025 National Youth Games.
