2026WCQ: Chelle proud of Super Eagles swift adaption to his methods

2026WCQ: Igbokwe backs Chelle to lead Super Eagles to victory against Rwanda

Eric Chelle has praised the Super Eagles players for their swift adaption to his methods which earned them a vital 2-0 win over Rwanda in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers on Friday evening, Afrosport reports.

Victor Osimhen’s brace in either half in Kigali put the West African giants back in the hunt for automatic qualification for next year’s finals in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Despite how the players were quick to adapt, Chelle asserted there is still a lot of improvement to be made.

“It was a very difficult game because Rwanda has a great team and a good coach. We made a great game too. I’m so happy and proud for my players, for my guys and for the Nigerian people,” the Malian tactician said.

“We worked a lot within a week and two training sessions, but it was a lot of information between me and my players. We had a game plan and the players made it work. So, I think the victory, and the win, is normal.

“It is my joy to set up the system, we tried two different systems in the team. We need to improve, it is the first game and we are going back twork for the second game.”

Chelle and his squad will now turn their attention to another important clash against Zimbabwe in Uyo on Tuesday.
