2026 WCQ: Lookman, Troost-Ekong in Kigali as Super Eagles camp swells to 22 players

Thirteen of the 23 invited players have reported to the Super Eagles’ camp in Uyo ahead of this month’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa, Afrosport reports.

Captain William Troost-Ekong was among the first to arrive, leading the trio of Amas Obasogie, Felix Agu, and Bruno Onyemaechi as camp opened on Monday.

By Tuesday morning, nine more players had joined up at the Eagles’ base at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel. The fresh arrivals included Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Ola Aina, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Moses Simon, Chiedozie Awaziem, Adebayo Adeleye, and Benjamin Frederick.

With ten more players expected, head coach Eric Chelle and his technical team are set to oversee their first training session on Tuesday night.

Nigeria face Rwanda on Saturday, 6 September at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, before travelling to Bloemfontein to take on South Africa at the Toyota Stadium on Tuesday, 9 September.

The Super Eagles currently sit fourth in Group C with seven points and must take maximum points from both fixtures to strengthen their bid for a place at the 2026 World Cup.
