The Flamingos of Nigeria received the Fair Play Award at the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic, Afrosport reports.
Despite exiting the tournament in the quarter-finals after a 2-0 loss to eventual bronze medalists the United States, the Flamingos were recognised for their discipline and sportsmanship during the course of the tournament where they had the fewest bookings with just one yellow card.
Meanwhile, Shakirat Moshood was tied for the Bronze Boot award along with Spain’s Celia Segura having scored four goals each. However, Segura won the award by registering two assists compared to Moshood’s one.

Nigeria also ended the tournament with three clean sheets which was the most along with Poland, the United States and eventual champions North Korea.
