2024 Olympic Qualifiers: Super Falcons end 16-year tournament drought

WAFCON 2024 Qualifiers: Super Falcons edge closer with comfortable victory over Cape Verde

The Super Falcons booked their spot at Summer Olympics for the first time in since 2008 after edging past South Africa 1-0 on aggregate in the final round of the qualifiers on Tuesday evening.

Randy Waldrum’s ladies got the all important win in the first leg in Abuja courtesy of Rasheedat Ajibade’s penalty.

There was very little action in the return leg in Pretoria with Chinwendu Ihezuo’s header in the fourth minute the closest the Falcons came to netting a second goal in the two-legged tie.

On the opposite end, Nigeria number one Chiamaka Nnadozie had to be alert to deny Banyana Banyana twice in the closing 20 minutes.

The Falcons will be on the plane to Paris in July along with the winner of the second leg tie between Morocco and Zambia later on Tuesday night which the North Africans lead 2-1.
